Short Biography:
Dr Mysara Eissa Mohyaldinn Elhaj is holding a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (Malaysia) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) designation from the Energy Institute (UK). He has over 15 years of experience in teaching and training, research, and industry. Currently, Dr Mysara is working as an Associate Professor with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, where he is serving as the Postgraduate Program leader (MSc and PhD by research) at the Petroleum Engineering Department and the Head of the Center of Flow Assurance at the Institute of Subsurface Resources (ISR).

He was also serving as the Drilling cluster leader in the petroleum engineering department and the deputy head of the centre of research in enhanced oil recovery (COREOR). Prior joining UTP, Dr Mysara has been working as an Assistant Professor with Sudan with Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) and a pipeline project engineer with China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. (CPPE) and Petroenergy E&P Co. As a researcher, Dr Mysara has secured 21 research projects including 12 projects as PI with a cumulative amount of RM3,147,909.6, 4 projects as a Co-PI with a cumulative amount of RM11,265,985, and 5 projects as a team member with a cumulative amount of RM551,670.

His research areas of interest include sand management, production enhancement, flow assurance, rare earth elements separation and purification, and Engineering Education. His research findings are published in more than 80 publications, the majority in prestigious Q1/Q2 journals. His publication records include 70.2% international collaboration, 49.1% in the top 25% most cited documents worldwide, 54.5% in the top 25% journals by CiteScore, and more than 25% in the top 10 journals by Google Scholar.

Dr Mysara also contributed to 4 consultancy projects including Flow Assurance Studies on Larut oil field and an ongoing PETRONAS future positioning project for rare earth elements separation and purification. As an educator, Dr Mysara has been teaching more than 15 core petroleum engineering subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, alongside conducting 9 professional courses for petroleum companies and academic institutions from Sudan, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, Gabon, and China.

His training areas cover petroleum production, artificial lift, oil/gas processing and transportation, CCUS, and engineering education. During his current tenure with UTP and because of his continuous involvement in and contribution to innovative education, Dr has been recognized by CETAL as a UTP Active Learning Change Agent and active learning instructor, whereby he serves as a regular trainer of the new hired faculty members and frequently contributes to teaching and learning events and competitions. As a result, he received many teaching and learning awards at the university and national levels and awarded two SOTL (Scholarship for Teaching and Learning) grants from CETAL. Dr Mysara has served as a main supervisor for over 60 FYP, 12 MSc, and 7 PhD students.

Besides his teaching and research duties, Dr Mysara frequently contributes to the academic and professional community through serving journal editing and review, conference technical committees, university academic committees, and professional and industry committees.
