Short Biography:

Dr A K M Eahsanul Haque with over 15 years of industry and research experience, joined the UTP (PETRONAS) in March 2022. Dr. Eahsan's experience, especially in reservoir characterisation, seismic sequence stratigraphy, 3D subsurface geomodeling, basin geodynamics and geoscience project management is extremely critical to enrich and develop geoscientific key areas for the Faculty of Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, UTP. He is currently associated as the Affiliate-Scientist at SETI Institute, USA collaborating on Planetary geology project.

He has worked in several world-class oil/gas companies such as Chevron, Weatherford etc in which he played key roles as development geoscientist, well logging analyst, wellsite geologist etc. He also worked as project manager in several strategic projects in Bangladesh, Australia, USA, Thailand and in Brunei Darussalam. He started his career as a junior research fellow for Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO), Columbia University, USA in basin geodynamics and seismicity of the Bengal Basin international research project which was collaborated with Dhaka University and National Science Foundation (NSF), USA. He also worked as geoscience advisor in developing geoscience training platform and digital platform for geoscience learning and solutions in Bangladesh.

Dr. Eahsan successfully completed his PhD (Petroleum Geoscience) from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Brunei in 2018, M.Sc. in Petroleum Geoscience from the same university in 2011 with the Govt. of Brunei Graduate Scholarship (MoE) and B.Sc (Honours) in Geology from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His PhD research was a ground-breaking work that developed a comprehensive reservoir modelling and volumetrics and presented improved volumetrics for the Ministry of Petroleum & Minerals, New Zealand, formally acknowledged and appreciated by the New Zealand Energy Ministry. He recently has proposed a new stratigraphic nomenclature for the gas-rich Sylhet Trough, Bengal Basin and the work was commended by UBD and the Energy Ministry of Bangladesh and geoscience community of Bangladesh and the neighbouring nation(s). Apart from serving the Geoscience & Petroleum Engineering faculty, he is serving as the Project Manager at PETRONAS's TpMacExpansion where he leads several geoscientific projects.
