Ts. Dr Emelia Akashah is a senior lecturer cum researcher at Computer and Information Science Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Emelia is also a member of the Centre for Research in Data Science (CeRDaS). She has over 15 years of experience in the academic and research field. Emelia completed her PhD at the University of Brighton, UK, and her MSc from the University of Surrey. She obtained First Class degree during her undergraduate studies in Computer Science. She was appointed as Principal Investigator (PI) for many research grants in Malaysia.
Her research interest is mainly but not limited to Data Quality, Data Analytics and also Data Science. She is also one of the CeRDaS consultants in many projects for oil & gas companies and has many research collaborations with industries such as public and private organizations. She has served as plenary speaker, international reviewer (PACIS, Inderscience, ICCOINS), and guest lecturer with institutions such as in Oman and Indonesia. Her involvement in international capacity-building, syllabus design, and digital governance modeling reflects robust international engagement.Other than that, she has served as a Lead Trainer and also a trainer for many short courses on Data Analytics, Power BI & Market Intelligence with internal and external organizations around Malaysia.
