Ts. Dr. Hafizan Mat Som is a distinguished Professional Technologist, Senior Lecturer, and Manager of Academic Operations, Resource Planning & Performance at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). With a strong academic background, including a PhD in Technology Enhanced Learning from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, and extensive expertise in digital transformation, immersive technologies, and education, Dr. Hafizan is a leader in bridging technology and societal well-being.
As the Head of the Technology Cluster for the Pahang Women's Policy and Action Plan (2022-2026) since 2022 until 2025, she spearheads initiatives to empower women and communities through digital literacy and STEM education. Her research spans virtual reality for elderly well-being, AI in education, and sustainable development, supported by grants from organizations like the Murata Science Foundation and APPGM-SDG and UTP Internal Fund.
An award-winning innovator, Dr. Hafizan has received accolades such as the Malaysia Startup Challenge 2024 Silver Award and multiple gold medals at international innovation competitions. She is also a Visiting Assistant Professor at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (2023-2025) and an active facilitator and trainer in business digital transformation, motivational and growth mindset as well as in the area of leadership and diversity programs for PETRONAS and other local and international institutions.
