Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hisham Khaled Ben Mahmud is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of petroleum engineering, currently serving as an Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). With dual Libyan-Australian citizenship, he is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from Curtin University, Australia, with a specialization in multiphase transit flow in pipes. Dr. Hisham has over two decades of professional experience in academia and industry, including leadership roles as the Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department at Curtin University Malaysia and Head of the Energy and Environment Research Cluster. His research encompasses petroleum production optimization, CO2 sequestration, hydrogen storage, and enhanced oil recovery. He has also supervised numerous Ph.D. candidates and led collaborative projects with industry and academic partners.
